Second Round of Hard Freezes

After last week's round of multiple days of below freezing weather, I figured that was going to be it for the year. But no, I was wrong. Instead we had another round of night time temps in the teens and not warming up until the middle of the afternoon.

After this last round, my Americana Variegata agave is likely a goner and the broccoli is toast. The onions aren't looking so good, but I'll give them a day or two to recover before writing them off.

Sigh...oh this crazy gardening roller coaster.

Hang in there!!! This will be a winter to remember!

This has been one of the toughest winters I can remember, and I've been gardening for a LONG time. I don't think it's quite over yet either.

Our winters seems to get a warm spell like the upcoming one this weekend and then BAM we're hit again. However, I'm always surprised at what makes it and what doesn't.

Last year, my new persimmon tree was cut down while the zone 9 shrimp plant survived, and my angel trumpet emerged in June.--I thought it was long dead. We'll see. Laura
